Preparation Method

Prepare the Masala Powder

  1. Add the toor dal, garlic cloves, black pepper, and cumin seeds to a mixer jar.
  2. Grind them into a coarse powder.

Prepare the Garlic Rasam

  1. Add the chopped tomatoes to a saucepan.
  2. Add the curry leaves and prepared garlic-pepper masala powder.
  3. Add tamarind water, salt, and enough water to achieve your preferred rasam consistency.
  4. Mix well and bring the rasam to a boil.
  5. Simmer for a few minutes until the tomatoes soften and the raw smell of the spices disappears.
  6. Add chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Turn off the heat and serve hot.
