Preparation Method
Prepare the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, combine the corn flour, all-purpose flour, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water and whisk until you get a smooth, medium-thick batter similar to pakora (fritter) batter.
Coat the Paneer
- In a separate plate, mix the breadcrumbs with oregano or mixed herbs.
- Dip each paneer cube into the prepared batter.
- Roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until evenly coated on all sides.
Fry the Paneer Popcorn
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Carefully add the coated paneer cubes.
- Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dip.
Recipe Tips
- For an extra crispy coating, dip the paneer cubes in the batter and breadcrumbs twice before frying.
- Fry over medium heat to ensure an evenly cooked, crunchy coating.
- Avoid overcooking the paneer, as it may become chewy.
- For a healthier option, lightly brush the coated paneer with oil and air fry or bake at 180°C (356°F) for 10–12 minutes.
- Serve immediately with tomato ketchup, mint chutney, or spicy mayonnaise.
